The needles of the Juniperus Communis rustle softly as the wind blows over the fields in Drenthe.
The juniper, a large bush, stands out against the bare winter landscape.
The Juniperus Communis is the Latin name for juniper. It is one of the most common conifers in the northern hemisphere, but a threatened plant species in the Netherlands since 2004.
The tree remains a mystery to many, and even an obsession to some. This project is a visual research on different aspects of the tree. It contains ‘portraits’ of juniper, portraits of its guardians, installation made from berries picked by people from all over the world.
